Team Pink Socks

Parents,
We have decided to order pink socks for the girls. Your account will be charged $5.66-$6.00 (depending on shipping) to cover the cost of the socks. If you have an issue with this method of payment, or do not want to order the socks please e-mail me, so I can reduce the order. We are paying a cheaper price for 14, so please let me know by Friday if you prefer not to do this. The socks will be worn for the Volley for the Cure event to help promote awareness of Breast Cancer. Also, the girls can keep the socks to wear for future practices. Thank you for your support!

Hi everyone,
I am putting in the t-shirt order on Monday, so if anyone wants a t-shirt, please turn in your order (shirt size) and $5 to me by Friday the 31st. If you plan to make a donation to Susan G. Komen Foundation for Breast Cancer, you may still do so up until Sept. 18. We will turn the money in after our game on September 18. Also, please stop by if you have a chance on Sept. 18 to see the girls in their pink uniforms to help promote Breast Cancer Awareness. We just received an update that currently over 200 teams in the state of Ohio have signed up to do this! We are so excited about it, and we hope you can join us on September 18 in your pink shirt! Thank you all for your support, and for most importantly helping us to spread the awareness for Breast Cancer.

Response to Save the Date!

Katie Lambe said...

Thank you to all of you for participating in this wonderful event! And a special thank you to my good friend, Coach Roehrenbeck, for organizing.

Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in America, affecting 1 in 8 women. An estimated 178,480 new cases of breast cancer are expected to occur among women in the U.S. during 2007, and an estimated 40,460 women will die from breast cancer. My mom was one of them.

Fortunately, fundraising events like these will help fund research to one day eliminate this terrible disease forever. The money you raise will be donated to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure, the world's largest grassroots network of breast cancer survivors and activists.

I look forward to cheering you on this season and to seeing you on September 18th.

Go Vikings!

Katie

Save the Date! September 18, 2007

Please mark your calendars for this special event. We will be participating in this event this year on September 18. To read more about it, please click on the link to the Volley for the Cure website. In early July, I was touched personally by the loss of a friend to breast cancer. Her name was Karen Lambe. Interesting enough, Karen was the mother of a best friend of mine (Katie) that I met through club volleyball my freshman year of high school. We have remained friends to this day, even though we went to different high schools and different colleges. The girls that started this event have a similar story. They were friends through club volleyball, but went to different high schools so they decided to do something to raise awareness of breast cancer. Only one school has done this so far, but the Ohio High School Athletic Association would like all 800 teams in the state of Ohio to help raise awareness and money for this cause. We will be selling t-shirts for $5, and one of those dollars will be going to breast cancer research. We would also like to hold a raffle at the game, so if you know of any local business owners that would like to donate a gift to our raffle that would be great! Please read more about this event on the website, and begin to ask friends to help by buying t-shirts. We will send home order forms with the girls, but please feel free to take them to work or ask neighbors as well! Thank you for your support!
